You are NOT alone.
If this is your first visit to the website, you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). As threatening and worrisome as any cancer diagnosis might be, your ability to educate and fortify yourself with the latest GIST information will be your greatest comfort.
Approximately 5000 new GIST cases are diagnosed in the United States annually. That translates to around 30 new cases diagnosed in the greater St. Louis area each year. Nowhere even close to new breast or prostate cancer diagnosis’, GIST remains a rare form of cancer that is certainly treatable and definitely manageable.
The GIST Foundation of Saint Louis was founded by actual GIST survivors, for GIST survivors, their caretakers and oncology healthcare professionals throughout the St. Louis region. While GIST is a rare cancer, you’ve just been blessed with a whole bunch of new friends willing to help.
